Jimmy Fallon drew some new comparisons to Donald Trump on Thursday night’s episode of “The Tonight Show” when it was revealed this week that the FBI raid at Mar-a-Lago resulted in the seizure of nearly 200,000 government documents . Late night the host joked that the two-time impeached former president is either a hoarder, or just a grandpa.
In a new court filing this week, Trump’s lawyers revealed What had previously been reported that the roughly 11,000 documents retrieved from Trump’s resort were actually closer to 200,000. The new total was disclosed to bolster his argument that the Justice Department is being “overly optimistic and aggressive” about how quickly documents can be reviewed by an external data vendor. And Special Master appointed in the case.
And in fact, Fallon couldn’t even pass the massive amount of pages that the authorities would have to go through. First, he compared Trump to an elderly relative.
“200,000 pages. He’s like the grandpa who prints out every email,” joked Fallon.
The late-night host joked that it was a good thing the FBI moved so quickly to seize those documents; If they weren’t there, they probably wouldn’t have reached them. But, not because Trump would have gotten rid of them.
“If the FBI delayed their search for another day, the TV show ‘Hoarders’ would have defeated them,” Fallon joked.
That said, Trump had a passing thought in Fallon’s monologue on Thursday. Beyond the two-time impeached former president, Fallon focused more on the record-breaking home run hit by Aaron Judge in the first week. (Though Trump got a quick zinger in that part too).
