Fan art contest offers a chance to win artwork in Halloween episode

Artists, you have a chance to showcase your artwork on The Simpsons. FOX has announced a special promotion encouraging artists to submit their scariest, scariest and most creative Krusty the Clown fan art. Some of the submitted artwork will be featured in the closing credits of a special Halloween episode of The Simpsons that will be broadcast on Sunday, October 23.

Called “Not It” This Upcoming Halloween Episode Is Using Krusty the Clown to Fake Stephen King’s Pennywise It. You can read the official description of that episode below.

When a supernatural clown begins murdering Kingfield’s children, young Homer Simpson teams up with other high school misfits to face their fears and defeat the mysterious monster. But years later, the evil clown returns and Homer’s friends must face the tragedy of their adult lives to destroy Krusto once and for all in the all-new “Not It” episode of THE SIMPSONS.

Going Pennywise with your Krusty the Clown fan art seems like an obvious choice, but with creativity encouraged, the art doesn’t have to focus specifically on It. If you are 18 years of age or older and live in the United States, you can participate by going to the official website for the competition. The contest kicks off on September 29 and ends on October 9 at 11:59 PM ET.

“Not It” Will Be The First Treehouse of Horror Episode With One Story

The “Not It” Episode of The Simpsons marks a moment in history for the series. While the show has had special Treehouse of Horror episodes celebrating Halloween going back to the beginning, there has never been an episode that focused on a single story for the entire half hour. Usually the episodes contain three standalone stories that have nothing to do with each other.

“We’ve never done a fantastic, gory, scary, dark story told within the 20 minutes and 40 seconds that is an episode,” said executive producer Matt Selman. Variety. “I think the fans will be really excited. Sure, the tattoos already exist from Krusty as Pennywise. So we’re just writing to the tattoos now. You want as many tattoo-worthy moments in your episodes as possible.”

For fans of Treehouse of Horror’s anthology-esque episodes, you’re in luck, because we’re getting a double dose of Halloween episodes this year. Apart from “Not It” there will be another Treehouse of Horror episode with the classic format that will spoof Obituary while it is not yet clear what the other segments will be about.

The SimpsonsHalloween episode airs Sunday, October 23 at 8/7c on FOX.
