Fans Troll Disney’s Twitter Account For Misunderstanding Encanto Character

While you might think Disney would be best placed to know their own movies, fans of encanto recently trolled the studio on their own Twitter account, for seemingly misrepresenting one of their own characters. In a post celebrating Luisa’s ability to “juggle” anything with unique power, fans couldn’t help but point out that encantoThe character’s message when it comes to the character is that it’s basically impossible to show the constant strength expected of her throughout most of the movie.

encanto was one of those movies that really finds its audience after its theatrical run ends. After having a moderate impact on the box office, encanto seemed destined to be one of those movies that filled out Disney’s catalog of mega-hits, but then it arrived on Disney+ and that all changed. The main reason for the film’s second-wind success came from the songs, led by the number one single We don’t talk about Brunowhich dominated the charts like no other Disney movie soundtrack.

Behind the catchy tunes, however, the film had a clear message to convey, which was that everyone had their place in the world, and not everyone is the person they appear to be or people expect them to be. This is true of Luisa, Mirabel’s sister who is super strong and muscular, but also has a lot of pressure to live up to the expectations that weigh her down, which is revealed in the song Surface pressure. However, the Disney post below doesn’t exactly align with that mindset, which fans were quick to point out.

Encanto is going to be another big Disney franchise

Earlier this year, Disney CEO Bob Chapek revealed that the surprise hit was encanto seemed to have led to the creation of a new franchise, and there are certainly plenty of opportunities to get into the movie, even if the story was seemingly told. Chapek said in February:

“We got off to a very strong start to the fiscal year, with a significant increase in earnings per share, record revenue and operating income in our domestic parks and resorts, the launch of a new franchise with Encanto and a significant increase in total subscriptions for our streaming portfolio to 196.4 million, including 11.8 million Disney+ subscribers added in the first quarter…”

Of course, we know that these things take time, and while plans may already have been made for the next step in encantofuture, it may take a while before we see anything on the screen. For now, however, the original encanto and a sing-along version are available on Disney+, and for fans of the film, there’s also talk of a number of potential spin-offs in development, as well as a potential stage adaptation en route to Broadway.

With Disney’s Frozen, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and the phenomenal The lionking among the films that have successfully made it to Broadway and beyond, and with the power of songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda behind it, there’s little doubt that at some point we’ll see encanto lighting theaters around the world.
