Fear the Walking Dead Comic Book Series is highly unlikely, says Robert Kirkman

Don’t bet that the story of Fear the Walking Dead will be continued in a comic series after the upcoming final season.

That was recently announced Fear the walking dead will conclude with the upcoming eighth season. The news follows the spinoff’s parent series, The living Dead, ending its own 11-season run on AMC last year. While the franchise will live on with other spin-offs on AMC, the news still comes as a disappointment to fans of Fear the walking dead who perhaps hoped this show would top ten seasons as well.

If you’re one of those fans, and you think the story could be expanded or reimagined with a comic book series, don’t get your hopes up too high. Robert Kirkmanwho co-created the original Walking dead comic books, addressed the possibility of one Fear the walking dead adjustment in the last issue of The Walking Dead Deluxe. Per ComicBook. comhe said the odds are basically zero even if not quite zero, that there will ever be a comic book. As the creator of the comic book says:

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“There’s a not zero, but barely, chance of that ever happening. It’s extremely, extremely unlikely. The closest we’ll probably get to an all-new series of mine that’s completely separate from TWD but has a topic that would appeal TWD fans. That’s the best I could do at the moment.”

Reasonable. But what about picking up the main Walking dead comic book series one day after ending that series in 2019? Kirkman says he could “dabble” into that zombie world again at some point in the future, though he also doubts he’ll work on it any more. Walking dead comics full time ever again.

“I’ve given 16 years of my life to this world. I may be on it sometime in the future, but I doubt I’ll ever return to do a full series. But… I would never say never .”

Fear the Walking Dead probably won’t get a comic book

Fear the walking dead
AMC

It’s interesting to think about Fear the walking dead turned into a comic book. The franchise started in the comic book world before being adapted as a TV series on AMC. Fear the walking dead was the show’s first spin-off, it consisted of completely original storylines and characters that weren’t from the comic book, at least before crossver characters started coming in. The spin-off didn’t reach the viewership level as its parent series, but was a strong performer in its own right, and eight seasons is still a respectable run for the series.

Fear the walking dead the story will most likely end at the end of Season 8. For what it’s worth, the show will wind down in a series-rounding fashion, with Kim Dickens’ Madison Clark returning to the cast alongside Lennie James’ Morgan Jones. Let’s hope it’s an ending that most fans will be happy with.
