EXCLUSIVE: Formula 1 enters the scripted television business.
Felicity Jones will star in a family drama series set in the high-risk world of motorsport – it’s the organization’s first-ever sanctioned scripted series.
Jones, Star of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story And The theory of everythingwill star and produce Oneby Tony To’s Bedrock Entertainment and written by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby.
It is also the first major series for Bedrock Entertainment created as a joint venture between them gang of brothers producer To, True detective executive producer Dan Sackheim and ITV Studios America. Formula 1 is on board as a producer.
One focuses on the tumultuous rise of a fictional family-owned Formula One team grappling with wild personalities, ever-changing rivals and multi-million dollar stakes. It will blend fiction with the real world of Formula 1, which has 23 races scheduled for the 2023 season.
Until the writers’ strike is resolved, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby will serve as writers and executive producers on the series. The couple was nominated for an Oscar children of menwrote iron man and created a science fiction series The wide.
To will serve as producer on Bedrock alongside Sackheim and ITV Studios America President and CEO Philippe Maigret. Jones and her brother, Alexander Jones, will produce via their Piecrust Pictures banner.
