Coming soon to stream, Disney Branded Television gathered all the star cast of Disney talent for Gala Pacta Disney+ Original teen rom-com culminating in the former Andi Mack star Peyton Elizabeth Lee, who is also the main character of Disney+’s Doogie Kamealoha, MD, which has just been picked up for a second season; and zombies triple threat Milo Manheim, who was also second on Dancing with the stars on ABC. At the D23 Expo 2022 last week, Lee and Manheim told attendees more about the upcoming original DBT movie during the first-ever Disney’s Epic Entertainment Showcase: The Musical: The Extravaganza!, and after the D23 announcement, the first poster of the movie went online. released.
Directed by Anya Adams (Hot off the press), which was written by Anthony Lombardo (american housewife), Disney’s press release says that: Gala Pact is a romantic teen comedy set at the height of the prom season. High school mandy Yang (Lee) and her best friend and fellow outsider Ben (Manheim) are surrounded by over-the-top ’80s themes. Mandy, however, keeps her eyes on another goal: her lifelong dream of going to Harvard. When she finds out she’s been put on the waiting list, she’s determined to do everything she can to be accepted, even if that means asking for help from the one person she detests: the popular all-star jock Graham Lansing, whose father is a powerful senator and Harvard alum. Once Mandy becomes Graham’s tutor, she begins to realize that there is more to him than she thought and perhaps more to life than Harvard.
Gala Pact also plays Emmy-nominated actor and comedian Margaret Cho (30 Rock) as Mrs. Chen, a sarcastic counselor with a quick wit who helps Mandy with her Harvard applications. And Monique Green (Great shot) plays popular cheerleader LaToya, with Arica Himmel (mixed-ish) and Jason Sakaki (Devil in Ohio) as Mandy’s close friends Zenobia and Charles, and David S. Jung as her father, Tom and Wendi McLendon-Covey as Alyssa.
Julie Bowen Says ‘Main Character Is A Feminist’
Prom Pact comes from Modern family‘s Julie Bowen, who executive produces with her production partner Rachel Field at Bowen & Sons; and Melvin Mar, the producer behind hits like the ABC series Hot off the press and Doogie Kamealoha, MD, who executive produces at The Detective Agency with his production partner, Jake Kasden. Lee serves as co-producer.
Bowen talk about Prom Pact while it was in development, saying:
The main character is a feminist and she does not believe in this idea of falling in love. It goes back to Shakespeare: she’s a bit shrill, very type A, and she especially doesn’t want to believe in heteronormative love because she’s so liberal. But then she falls and there’s that undeniable chemistry.
