Former ‘SNL’ star Chris Redd punched in the face by unidentified assailant outside NYC’s Comedy Cellar

Former “Saturday Night Live” regular Chris Redd was punched in the face by an unidentified assailant outside the Comedy Cellar in Manhattan on Wednesday night, tmz reported on Thursday.

He was then taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was treated and released. Witnesses said police took photos of Chris’ injuries, including a deep wound on his nose.

It is being told that the attacker was wearing the uniform of a security guard. Club owner Noam Dwarman told TheWrap that none of his employees wear a uniform and the attacker was “not an employee”.

By the time the police reached the spot, the accused had fled.

Witnesses also said that the suspect pulled a chain from Red’s neck.

Redd left “SNL” before season 48 after five seasons on the show.

A representative for the comedian did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
