Kiran, where are you from and what did you study? Curious how you got into acting.

I am from Rayachoti, Kadapa. I studied Engineering and then worked for a software company in Bangalore for three years. Out of the group of friends and colleagues I had there, I was the one who got the most excited every time a movie came out. All the hunma, excitement and euphoria was just around me. After a point I realized that everyone except me is good at that job. Well, acting was never in mind. A friend of mine wanted to make a short film and he said I would look good in the lead role and asked me to try acting. This was in 2016 and it worked really well. So post that, I met some people who were interested in making a movie and that’s how Raja Varu Rani Gaaru happened.

Have you ever thought about the scripts you can’t do or the part you can’t play?

Oh yeah! I did. Can never play a rich dad spoiled brat or richie rich. I can never imagine myself in such roles. Not only me, but even people can not look in such roles. It will be very artificial there and those roles are not my thing. I would like to be a neighbor boy and just any other young person.

How important are checkout collections to you? Do you think they will decide your career and success?

Of course they are important. Like any employee who is paid and has a big assignment on his mind to prove his mettle, he must do it at all costs. If he doesn’t live up to expectations, his growth is at risk. So it’s the same with me. When the producer invests in money and expects me to bring a profit for them, checkout collections are absolutely important to me. Because that’s what brings me success and helps me grow. Only if there are collections and winnings at the box office can I stay here and survive.

You don’t have a godfather in the industry and that would certainly have made it difficult and challenging for you. So have you ever wished you had one?

No. Because when I left my job and family to try my luck here, I was ready to face anything and everything. I know there will be difficult days and days when I will also feel the lowest. But when I was ready to see every day, I never really felt the need for a godfather. To be fair, even those godfathers struggle for hits. So it’s all about talent and nothing else.

Nenu Meeku Baga Kavalsina Vadini is a story you signed two years ago. And things are not the same as before. So you’re not skeptical about the story now?

I know. Unlike in the old days, people just don’t walk in to watch the movie. They read reviews, are not ready to watch routine movies that tell old stories. There is now a fear among us when movies are released. So yes, even I thought about the question you asked. But the script isn’t about me… it’s about a daughter and her bond with father. I’m just a character in her story. So this is not about what Kiran Abbavaram has to say, as in his previous films. This one is different.

Tell us about your upcoming movies.

I have Meter, Rules Ranjan and Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha in preparation. They will be very entertaining. Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha will show the audience a new shadow of me. It turned out really well and I’m looking forward to the release. Meter and Regels Ranjan are commercial entertainers who will provide plenty of entertainment and laughter.

Excellent! Thank you. All the best
