Despite TheWrap doing an entire story on the possibility of the adored Riseborough’s totally unexpected and peer-driven campaign, few thought a Best Actress making of it would ever happen. Her film, “To Leslie,” in which she hypnotically plays a recovering addict, garnered minimal distribution and didn’t have the massive awards campaign of other higher-profile independent films. But the morning she produced one of the loudest gasps ever heard, and with the help of a huge Hollywood elite, Riseborough emerges with her first Oscar nomination.
