From ‘SVU’ to Air Kelly Giddish Finale in December

Kelly Giddish’s final “SVU” episode will take place on December 8, NBC confirmed Tuesday. Exit for the actress who played Det. Amanda Rollins was announced in August since 2011.

He’s also set to appear in an upcoming episode of “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” which seems unlikely to kill his character. Her story so far in Season 24 suggests that she may walk away from police work altogether.

In the season opener, Rollins was shot in the stomach while trying to save a sex trafficking victim. She has recovered physically and returned to work after a brief break, but her character is plagued by panic attacks and separation from her work.

Giddish didn’t want to leave the series, but her character’s happy romance with Dominic Carisi Jr. (Peter Scanavino) was probably too sunny to process sex crimes. David Graziano, who took over as showrunner from Warren Leight, was also a big fan of the “Rolisei” pairing, he told TheWrap ahead of the season premiere.

In August, when news of his departure first broke, Giddish said in a statement, “Playing the role of Rollins has been one of the greatest joys and privileges of my life. I’ve been in the ‘Law & Order’ family for the past 12 years.” I’ve been so lucky to be a part of. There’s just no other character on TV like Rollins. She’s grown and changed, and so have I. I started this show when I was in my 20s And I’m grateful that I get to spend many of my adult years with Rollins in my life.”

They thanked series head Mariska Hargitay, who is also an executive producer, as well as series creator Dick Wolf, Leight, Wolf Entertainment president Peter Jankowski, and NBC and Universal Television.
