Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen set the internet on fire after she unveiled Taali’s first look poster. While fans are still in awe of her, Gauri Sawant has also shared her reaction when Sen played her in the upcoming project, For the Unversed, language is an autobiography of Gauri Sawant, a transgender rights activist.
Gauri Sawant speaks about the cast of Sushmita Sen in Taali; says, ‘I thought a Southern actor or actress would play my part’
During a conversation with Lokmat after the release of the first look poster of language, Sawant recalled how she reacted when she was told that Sushmita Sen would be playing her in the film. Gauri revealed that she initially had no idea who would play the titular role. She added: “I had no idea who would play my part. I thought a Southern actor or actress would play my part.”
She added: “When I heard Sushmita Sen’s name, I laughed. Hair Chunri Chunri song kept coming to my mind. I really couldn’t believe she was going to play my part at first. But after signing contracts, I was convinced.” She concluded the same, saying: “It’s very important to do a biopic, especially about the life of a transgender and also that Sushmita Sen is playing my part.”
In addition to the interview, the transgender rights activist also poured love on the Bollywood diva. As a token of appreciation, Gauri shared a group photo with her and Sushmita Sen on her social media handle. In Marathi, Sawant greeted the actress saying that “it will be a great honor” for her community.
The first Taali poster shows Sushmita dressed in a maroon and green saree with a large maroon bindi on her forehead. The web series is headed by Marathi director Ravi Jadhav.
