Finally, actress Genelia D’Souza has announced her comeback after taking a break from the silver screen for nearly five years. Interestingly, she has teamed up with her husband Riteish Deshmukh for an upcoming Marathi movie titled ved.

On Wednesday, both actors – Deshmukh and D’Souza – took to their respective social media to announce the project. Along with the announcement, they also shared the first look at the film.
D’Souza shared the poster and wrote a note in Marathi that read: ‘I was born in Maharashtra. After I started acting, I made movies in different languages like Hindi-Tamil-Telugu. I got huge love from the audience there. I’m making my Marathi film debut with Riteish’s first directorial venture. Working in Marathi gives me the feeling that the circle has come full circle.”
“I’m sure you’ll love me just as much in Marathi. Happy Diwali Padwa. Here’s the first look from our crazy movie,” she added. As soon as D’Souza dropped the poster, some of her fans and industry friends congratulated the actress. While Maniesh Paul commented, “I’m sooooooooo looking forward to this!”, “Top,” said Rhea Chakraborty using lots of emojis.

Speaking of the film, Deshmukh will be the first director to helm the film. The feature film Marathi is scheduled for December 30. A few weeks ago, Deshmukh had spoken about his directorial debut with PTI. He was quoted as saying, “This (direction) is something I’ve been drawn to for years, but I didn’t dare do it because I was acting. For the past three to four years, I’ve been trying to figure it out.”
The actor added: “It is difficult for Marathi cinema to survive with Hindi cinema in the same state while first preference is to watch Hindi over Marathi cinema. When Marathi movies become second choice, their cinema share invariably decreases.”
