George RR Martin Says ‘The Best Is Yet to Come’ in House of the Dragon

House of the Dragon is off to a strong start. The HBO Max spin-off series has premiered six episodes so far, breaking records and attracting millions of viewers every week. The show was under a lot of pressure after the last season of Game of Throneswith fans having high hopes, hoping the spin-off could achieve the same success the first series had when it was at its peak.

One fan, in particular, is impressed by House of the Dragon show far, and he is arguably the most critical member of the audience. George RR Martin is the mind and pen behind A song of ice and fire and Fire & Bloodthe series of novels and the historical solo book on which Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon is based. Martin recently released a new blog post about his website and offered his take on the HBO series as it passes midway through its first season. “The show started strong and has only gotten stronger,” he says, thanking fans for their viewers. He also praises the two actors who play Rhaenyra and Alicent, saying, “Milly Alcock and Emily Carey were incredible as young Rhaenyra and young Alicent, weren’t they?” Now they have been replaced by older actors after the conclusion of the fifth episode. “With Sunday’s episode, Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke took over as the adult versions of the characters. I think you’ll love them too. Or maybe hate them. Love/hate.”

House of the Dragon contains many characters that cannot be classified as heroes or villains, as their actions are based on the world around them. “Westeros, like the real world, is full of complex characters, capable of both good and evil,” explains Martin. Finally, he thanks the showrunners who guided the cast and crew through the first season. “And last but not least, our showrunners, Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik…HOT D wouldn’t exist without them.” Fortunately, Martin says we still have plenty of excitement to look forward to in the final four episodes of the season. “Hope you enjoy HOT D as much as I do. And hey, four more episodes to go… the best to come. Now on to season two!” If you want to read Martin’s full post on: House of the Dragoncan you find his blog? here.

House of the Dragon Season 1 is almost done

House of the Dragon is eerily similar to the early seasons of Game of Thrones, focusing on political intrigue, various power games and multiplayer seeking a chance to find themselves on the Iron Throne. Rhaenyra, Alicent, Otto Hightower, Daemon Targaryen, and Larys Strong have all taken steps to rise to the top of the power hierarchy, although at this point we don’t know who will win.
