Benoit Blanc is back to solve another mystery case in Rian Johnson’s upcoming mystery blockbuster Glass onion – a mysterious knife. In the sequel to Rian Johnson’s Blades offDetective Benoit Blanc travels to Greece to unravel the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of colorful suspects. The makers revealed the official first look of the film on Monday.

The first look sees the entire cast eating. This time you have Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, with Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista. “You’re trying to invite people you like,” Rian Johnson told Netflix’s TUDUM website in an interview. “But the reality is you never know. At the end of the day, you’re just trying to get the best actors in each part, the actors best suited for each individual part. So you also just roll the dice and hold your breath. Fortunately, we have a great group that really puts it together.”
Rian Johnson says Beniot Blanc will get more time this time. “You definitely get to know him a little bit better,” he said. “In the first part, because of the way it was structured, Marta, the character of Ana de Armas, was the protagonist. To a large extent, Blanc was the threat. He was almost the antagonist in terms of just the story structure, because you were afraid, even if they got closer, that he’d catch her and he’d have to turn her over at the end. So Blanc was always out of our main character’s sphere and was a bit more of an enigma in the first movie. While in this Blanc gets an invitation to come to this murder mystery on this island. We love to meet these people and come into this world through his eyes.”
Glass Onion: A Knife Mystery will premiere in select theaters on a date to be determined and worldwide on Netflix, on December 23.
