Great British Bake Off judge Pru Leith strays out to sea in stalled boat

“Great British Bake Off” judge and master chef Prue Leith recently found herself in a precarious situation when her motorboat cruising the Mediterranean off the coast of Italy lost power and left her adrift for a day.

“I couldn’t get it started and the wind was picking up,” she said Mirror. “I thought, ‘This has the makings of a really bad novel.’

Several hours passed as his boat floated aimlessly out to sea and although several other boats passed by, his signal to them was not helped, instead being misinterpreted as a friendly hello.

“People would pass by, not close enough to shout but close enough to wave and I’d wave wildly and they’d just wave back, thinking I was just being friendly,” she smiled.

In the end, a lone Sardinian fisherman saved the day. However, he was none too pleased with her for putting herself in such a risky position.

“He was very angry with me. He said, ‘You tourist, you risk your life. You could have drifted all the way to Corsica!'” she remembered. “And he absolutely blazed me. And there I was… Sunburnt. I was thirsty, I had the whole day in complete misery. But he was absolutely right and I was very stupid.

Leith can currently be seen in Seasons 8-12 of “The Great British Bake Off” on Netflix and “The Great American Baking Show Celebrity Holiday Special” on the Roku Channel. Come 2023, see “The Great American Bake Show” on a later release date.
