Heartbreak High renewed for season 2 on Netflix

“Don’t worry, we won’t ruin it,” said Que Minh Luu, Netflix’s Australian director of originals. the guard about reboot Heartache high for its premiere. “It’s not just that Heartache high was popular, it’s that it meant something. And for me, being a 90’s kid and loving the show, I think it was the first time you felt like a show understood you. We wanted to tap into that feeling.”

On where this new series might go compared to the original, Luu added, “It was cool and mature, the tone was really sexy and provocative and a little bit aggressive. So what does that mean in 2022? And from our point of view, things like honesty, diversity and maturity is the basic level. I don’t think that’s necessarily ambitious at the moment. I think that’s just part of the course.”

“What we want to do is reflect what it’s like to be young today,” she said. “We want to do it in a way that is unique to Australia, and that shows that Australian sense of humor, which is disapproving and incredibly brutal, disrespectful and often inappropriate at inappropriate times.”
