‘How would you really like to choose us?’ (Video)

Rachel Maddow is having a hard time wrapping her head around the concept of electoral refusal to run in political races this year. On Monday night, the MSNBC host honestly questioned how well those who deny the 2020 election results hope to be elected.

Appearing on “The Tonight Show” and sitting down with host Jimmy Fallon, Meadow noted that in the Washington Post’s new findings, “a numerical majority of Republican candidates do not believe in past election results.” In fact, many are campaigning on the lie that the election was “stolen” due to voter fraud (which has been disproved several times since the end of the election).

“So it’s hard, ‘Cause if you don’t believe that elections are the way we decide who’s in power, how exactly would you want us to choose you?” Muddo said. “If you don’t think about how the people in America should come to power, I don’t know what you want me to do for you, but I’m not inclined to vote for you.”

Madow said that, given previous precedent, logic would dictate that Republicans would, under normal circumstances, have a good shot at sweeping the midterms.

“Political science isn’t real science. Like, it’s not physics,” she explained. “But to the extent that political science rules in America, this is this: If your party currently has a president in the White House, the next time there’s an election, you’ll be under fire.”

That said, the mid-term 2022 has so far proved to be less than normal. The MSNBC host specifically mocked the two candidates, reiterating that they don’t know how they expect to be selected.

“But… Herschel Walker, you know?” Madhu laughed. “And I mean, really, the person nominated for governor in Arizona doesn’t believe in election results! Like, well, I’d do a lot with you, but not run in elections! That’s it, that’s you. It doesn’t matter!”
