Major Marvel news has just been announced, courtesy of Ryan Reynolds. On Twitter, Reynolds shared a video noting that it was “hard to keep my mouth shut about this”. In the video, Reynolds then elaborates on the absence of Deadpool 3 news on D23 before dropping a big bomb.
“Hello everyone. We are very sad that we missed D23 but we have been working extremely hard on the next one Deadpool film for a long time,” Reynolds says. “I really had to dig my soul into this. His first appearance in the MCU must of course feel special. We must stay true to character. Find new depth and motivation, new meaning. Each Deadpool should stand out and stand out.”
The actor adds: “It was an incredible challenge that shaped me to reach deep within, and I… have nothing. Yes. All the way here. And terrifying. But we had one idea.”
At this point, actor Hugh Jackman can be seen casually walking by in the background as Reynolds casually asks if he’d like to reprise his role as Logan one more time for Deadpool 3.
“Hey Hugh. Want to play Wolverine again?” Reynolds argues.
“Yeah, definitely Ryan,” Jackman replies.
This wasn’t the only major news to come out of the video. At the end, it was also announced that the film will hit theaters in 2024. The official release date is September 6, 2024. While that puts us at about two years from this point for the threequel, it’s a big step forward for the anticipated movie that has been delayed quite a bit with its pre-production.
Marvel has been very supportive of Deadpool 3
Of course, no plot details have been revealed for Deadpool 3, but the addition of Jackman’s Logan is enough to make the film a must-see. The screenwriters, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, have also stated that Marvel has been very supportive of their vision for the new film. That should allay any concerns fans might have that the filmmakers wouldn’t be allowed to keep the spirit of the previous films, which even come with an R rating.
“It’s almost like putting on a comfy old sweater,” the writers said of developing part three, via DiscussMovie. “Marvel really gave us the support to keep the tone and the vision we have for it. They were very hands-off and supportive, but they also let us do what we do. So really, it was just fun” We are mad scientists in the lab again. Deadpool is our favorite and will always be the character I think we’re most associated with, and we’re very grateful to be able to write him again. So it’s great.” It’s like going back to school after a summer off. It’s pretty fun.”
Deadpool 3 will be released in theaters on September 6, 2024.
