‘I Think So Much Of You’ (Video)

Everything seems fine between Jimmy Kimmel and “Abbott Elementary” creator, star and Emmy winner Quinta Brunson.

Brunson, who won an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Writing on Monday, appeared as a guest on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Wednesday, where Kimmel apologized for ending his historic Emmy win and expressed his admiration and support. But before that, she crashed her monologue into giving the acceptance speech she was supposed to give—a bit of a joke critics said disrespected Brunson’s victory.

You can watch that apology right now in the clip above, and down the page you can see Bruce’s appearance in the monologue; We’ll take you through the transcripts of both for a moment.

For those who need a brief catch-up, what happened Monday at the Emmys is that the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series was presented a little earlier, where the presenter, comedian Will Arnett, dragged Kimmel, pretended to be Dead, out on stage.

Kimmel was still playing dead after Brunson won, and he stepped on Kimmel’s “dead” body to accept his prize. This lie was criticized as disrespectful to Brunson, although he indicated at the time that he did not mind. And earlier on Wednesday, she urged people to watch Kimmel to see how the two would solve it.

Which brings us back to Wednesday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” We’ll start with the monologue – near the end, Brunson walks out on stage with her Emmy, to applause from the audience.

“You know you’re a little early for your interview,” Kimmel joked.

“I know, I know, I owe you a little favor to ask. Yeah so, you know, when you win an Emmy, you only have 45 seconds to do an acceptance speech, which Isn’t that much time? And then you get less time because someone does a dumb comedy that goes a little longer?” Brunson replied.

“You know, I’ve heard that happen,” Kimmel said.

Brunson then asked if he could have “a few extra minutes” to say thank you to some of the people who did the thank you. Kimmel tells her to “take whatever you want all the time” and wanders into the background.

Brunson then thanked “Randall Einhorn, Michelle Nader, Big Andy, Margie, Erin Wehrenberg and Channing Dungy, Craig Erwich, Adam Segal, Persona PR and all the fans of the show.”

“And the Internet, to cradle me. And for all my ‘Abbott Elementary’ writers to see, I wouldn’t have it without you. Now please go to sleep tomorrow we have work. Even if you are an adult and I have no jurisdiction over when you sleep,” she said.

Later, during the actual interview, Kimmel formally apologized. After explaining the joke to the audience, Kimmel said, “People got upset, they said I stole your moment, and maybe I did, and I’m very sorry if I did. I’m sorry. did Do this, really. And also, the last thing I want to do was bother you because I think about you so much. And I think you know it – I hope you know it.”

“Jimmy, let me just say thank you. It’s so kind of you to say that. I honestly just had a great time in a moment like I won my first Emmy, I was there, you know, I was so happy.” And I was wrapped up in the moment, and just having a good time,” Brunson replied.

“Thanks, that’s a pity,” she said, “but honestly, I had a great night. I had a great night.”

“And I must also say, it was actually Will Arnett’s fault, the whole thing. He drugged me and he pulled me out of there and I fainted,” Kimmel joked.

“And by the way, I was so happy to see you win that Emmy… for you to win that Emmy. I’ve been a fan of the show… It was your first time at the Emmys and you won.’ Because I’ve been to the Emmys like 20 times and I never won,’ Kimmel continued.
