‘I would spot and follow people on the street’

Christian Bale has seen several transformative roles throughout his career. During an interview with Inversethe 48-year-old actor shared a special challenge with filming Amsterdam and why it was somewhat dangerous for him. Burt has a glass eye throughout the film, and instead of adding the effect digitally, Bale and the crew decided to practically shoot with an eye lens.

He says, “I had a lens all along. I couldn’t see out of that eye at all. There was a lens technician, Bob, who was great. He always looked at my eye,” explains Bale. “If we left it on too long, he’d come and look and go, ‘Oh God, we’ve got to get it out.’ He would say that the eye literally grows around the lens.” He continues, “It’s like protein and the protein starts to grow because it starts to say, you’ve had this lens in your eye for so long, we’re going to make it part of your eyeball.”

Fortunately, Bale survived the filming without completely losing his eyesight in one eye, making the filming process a success. However, he adds that his preparation for the role might be considered a bit odd, telling Inverse that he’s been thinking about Amsterdam for years. “We’ve built this up over many years. It sounds a little weird, but I would see people on the street and follow them and watch and observe them,” Bale says. “And then I’d call David and say, ‘Oh, I just saw a guy walk by and he’s got the voice and the way he walks. He’s a total Burt!'” There’s little doubt that Christian Bale will take his part. nail in Amsterdam as he always does, and fans are indeed looking forward to it.


Amsterdam is ready for theater premiere

Amsterdam will hit theaters on October 7, starring Margot Robbie and John David Washington alongside Bale. The three lead actors are joined by an amazingly talented cast, including Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Zoe Saldana, Mike Myers, Michael Shannon, Taylor Swift, Rami Malek and Robert De Niro.
