Invincible Voice Actor Khary Payton Gives Season 2 & 3 Update

Khary Payton says Invincible’s voice cast is already working on their Season 3 lines after finishing their work on Season 2.

Production is progressing well on the second and third seasons of Prime Video’s hit animated series Invincible. Based on Robert Kirkman’s comic book of the same name (The living Dead), Invincible premiered on Prime Video in 2021. The high viewership and positive response from viewers and critics alike has led Amazon to extend the series for another two seasons, guaranteeing we’ll get at least three seasons of Invincible. What has remained unclear since then is when seasons 2 and 3 will be released.

Now an update on the progress of the next two seasons has come, courtesy of Black Samson voice actor Khary Payton. In an interview with The movie Dweeb on YouTube, Payton spoke about how he is currently still working on new episodes of the show. The actor also touched on reuniting with Kirkman for the project, praising him for the Walking Dead Creator.

“We’re shooting Invincible right now, and he’s just so down to earth, and not…there’s just nothing put on the man. And every now and then I look at him like, this is, he’s a genius. Know you. And to talk to that man, he just doesn’t come off like that at all.”

Invincible season 2 may be a while before it arrives

Payton then gave an update on where things currently stand with seasons 2 and 3. The good news is that all of the dialogue for season 2 has been recorded and work has begun on season three. At the same time, Payton still suggests it will be a while before Season 2 arrives, given how long it takes to perfect animation. As the actor suggests, the upside here is that the show got a two-season extension, so the wait between seasons 2 and 3 shouldn’t be that long.

“We’re done with season 2. We’re through to season 3. But it’s so hard to say right now. There was a plethora of animation studios just trying to get so much done and literally it was like projects were sitting there with a backpack full of material. They say, ‘Every time you’re ready.’ There was literally a queue for the really great studios to just flesh out this work so I honestly can’t tell you I’m dying I’m so glad they’re greenlighting 2 and 3 at the same time because that means when 3 comes out, it will feel like next season, not a lifetime. But hey, it will be a while, I wish I could say it differently.”

The first season of Invincible streams on Prime Video. Season 2 and 3 don’t have premiere dates yet.
