‘It Feels Really Real and Really Raw’

Strigoi came and went from St. Vladimir and left a trail of destruction – as well as an illegally established leader of the dominion – in their wake. The good news is that both Mia and Meredith survived the attack and are finally able to be together in the “Vampire Academy” finale. And according to series star Mia McKenna-Bruce, those feelings and tears flowing across the screen were very real.

What do you call it when you’re betrayed by an heir to a throne that you certainly don’t love, but then he dies, throwing your entire future into chaos, only to have you as a woman? fall in real love with your “below” class, while your father is now vying for that throne and allowing your sister to use his magic to cure her terminal illness, only for His Then became Strigoi as the darkness consumed him by using his powers? You call it Mia Karp’s stroke on season one of “Vampire Academy.”

And so those tears were real. According to McKenna-Bruce, it was a combination of her character’s journey, especially with Meredith (Rian Blundell), and the extensive shooting schedule that made the moment where Meredith was so poignant in Mia’s room after the fight.

“I mean, it was my favorite scene of the whole series. It was just — we filmed it relatively, I think, toward the end so you know, it was clear what everyone was going through,” McKenna -Bruce explained to TheWrap. “And also, we were really sad! Like, we had a really long shoot that everyone went through a lot. So it was a real run of feelings for both of us anyway.”

She continued, “It felt really real, and really raw, and really beautiful that the two of them — whatever they’ve been through finally came together and it was just them. hopefully That means when we get them back they will be in a good place.”

McKenna-Bruce would also credit her scene partner for making the emotional moment so smooth, and really vulnerable.

“I’ve said it so many times, just, salute to Rei, she’s so incredible to work with,” she said. “And I felt so safe with him that we were able to really, really, do whatever we did, to take it out and just go there.”

Of course, by the end of the episode, Mia Karp is also grappling with a comeback—and subsequent loss, Again – Of an old relationship. During the Strigoi attack, Lisa’s (Daniela Nieves) brother Andre (Jason Diaz), who we learned at the end of last week’s episode, is definitely still alive, and is being held hostage by Tatiana Vogel (Anita-Joy Uvazeh). After, manages to escape and find the two women.

“I think she was looking at 100 million and one things at a time. Because apparently, when she died, she was destined to be married, which meant she was going to be queen, for which she had taken so long.” had prepared in time, ”she explained. Now everything is right in front of me again.'”

She continued, “Is this going to be possible? What about Meredith? What about Lisa? My dad, what about my sister? Everything came to a head, I think, to see Andre. in that one moment of, because almost everything she was going through in the series resulted in her dying in that first episode.”

Granted, Mia and Andre were never romantically involved, but she still meant something to him, and she was definitely shocked to see him again, if only briefly. And it’s something that McKenna-Bruce will want to explore more in a possible season two of “Vampire Academy.”

“Mia had a line from long ago where she said, ‘We were good together.’ Like, ‘We didn’t love each other like that. But we would have been good together.’ So I think there was a real, even respect, for each other,” she said. “I don’t know. I guess there’s still hope for where it came from and what it really meant, but I definitely felt there was depth in their relationship, whatever it was.

For now, Mia – and Lisa – are again processing Andre’s death, and this time, at the hands of her own sister. What Mia doesn’t know is that Andre once again survived – just becoming Strigoi. And what does this mean for everyone? Well, fans will have to wait for season two to find out.
