Thursday’s “The Late Late Show” host James Corden began the show with a lengthy tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, who died earlier in the day at 96.
Celebrating Elizabeth as “a shining example of leadership” and “a guiding light”, Corden said she is “sad tonight, but also very grateful and grateful.” Corden, who is English, also described the deceased monarch as an egalitarian “beloved and respected by the president as he was by the street man.”

We certainly hear the news that Queen Elizabeth passed away at the age of 96. I, like the rest of the world, are deeply saddened tonight, but at the same time grateful and grateful to the Queen for the most incredible service and leadership. Shown throughout our lifetime.
Throughout the day you would have been hearing statistics about his reign as the longest reign in British history. He served on the throne for 70 years. She is the only queen most of us have ever known. She has seen 14 US presidents during her reign, and on Tuesday, just on Tuesday, welcomed her 15th prime minister.
We saw him as immortal, an essential part of the fabric of our world. Surely there has been a flood of mourning and love around the world, he was universally admired. He represented good in this world, lived a life of honor, a life dedicated to service, dedicated to improving the lives of others. And it always feels like he is there for all of us.
For 70 years she never gave up, she was never political, she didn’t need us to voice her opinion, she never gave interview, she never posted on social media. It was never about his PR, for him. And maybe that’s why she was as beloved and respected by the President as by the street boy. And she will treat both of them equally. It didn’t matter who you were, she was there for you.
Today we are living in a world of uncertainty. There are wars, and divisions, fights all over the world. People are dealing with climate change, governments change, pandemics, wherever you look, there is strife, unrest, bitterness. There is so much instability. But the queen was always the queen. a guiding light. She was always kind, always dignified, always a shining example of leadership.
It represented stability in a world where it often felt like the floor was shaking. Queen Elizabeth was unique. A life’s work should never be repeated. Everyone at home in the United Kingdom and around the world will remember it today. They will remember where they were when they heard the news, the news that will change our country forever.
We will always celebrate her life, and remember what she stood for. And we will always be grateful for their sacrifice.
