Jamie goes to John Dutton – Deadline

SPOILERS ALERT! The following story contains plot points from the midseason finale of yellowstone.

Well it’s war. Anew.

Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) continued his threat by demanding the impeachment of his father, John (Kevin Costner), who had blocked construction of an airport that would have brought jobs and tourist money to Montana. John learns of his son’s betrayal while speaking out against the proposed installation of a pipeline through the local reservation – John’s latest attempt to stop progress from reaching his beloved home state. Someone seems to be fighting a losing battle.

In fact, that’s exactly the message conveyed by Jamie to Beth (Kelly Reilly), who broke into her brother’s home to get him to reverse course on impeachment. After vainly threatening to make Jamie’s murder public and disposed of His real father in Season 4, Jamie, enlightens his sister that he isn’t the only Dutton to dump a body at the so-called train station. Beth finally learns another deep family secret: John Dutton has been dumping bodies on the Montana border for years; In fact, the episode began with a young Rip (Kyle Red Silverstein) who, at the urging of young John Dutton (Josh Lucas), dumps the corpse of a cowboy who’s gotten a little too quirky about his beloved Beth.

“At the bottom of this gorge lie our family’s secrets, worth centuries,” explains Jamie Beth. “Ask your husband where the train station is and how often he has been there.”

She can’t do that now: Rip has just left with his cowhands to transport the herd to the Mexican Panhandle. So she confronts her father, who confirms her worst fears.

“It’s a trash can for everyone who attacked us,” Dutton explains. So Beth has an idea: She’d like to add another body to this “judicial death zone in a county with exactly zero population.” She wants to kill her brother Jamie before he kills their father’s governorship.

“What are you thinking, dad?” Beth asks.

It turns out that Jamie is one step ahead of her. He already predicts that Beth will want his head on a slab, so he asks his galpal Sarah (Dawn Olivieri) to cut his sister off the trail. He asks Sarah to contact some professionals who can make it look like Beth has had a heart attack or been in a car accident. Oh boy.

The episode had a few sweeter moments. John asks Monica (Kelsey Asbille) to keep an eye on the ranch while he’s not ruling. Teeter (Jen Landon) tells Colby (Denim Richards) that she loves him before leaving for Mexico with Rip and the other cowboys. And we’ve seen Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White) a changed and happy man: he has a slim brunette of his own at home while he tends the herd for the 6666 Ranch. Will he ever return to Montana?

Answers don’t come quickly. Paramount announced Sunday night that the show will not return until summer.
