Jennifer Coolidge turns Emmy speech into a dance party

Actress Jennifer Coolidge won her first Emmy Award for her performance on HBO’s “The White Lotus” on Monday night, and while her Emmy speech got off to an emotional start, it soon turned hilarious as she took her pre-show bath. Remembered, forgot your list of names to thank and began to be played.

“What a Night,” Coolidge began before admitting to those she beat in supporting actress in a limited or anthology series or movie category. “I just want to say to my fellow nominees, just being in your company is incredible.”

And then take a shower.

Coolidge laughed, “I just want to say, I took a lavender bath tonight right before the show, and it made me swell inside my dress and I’m having a hard time speaking.”

“It’s so thrilling because—” It is at this point that Coolidge remembered that she had a list of names to thank, highlighting the part of the speech that had bleed. “Oh s-t, I didn’t think that was going to happen.”

The “Legally Blonde” actress then began playing with a sad song, but it was defiant.

She said, “No, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing and I’m full!” Then added, “Wait wait,” which she kept repeating until the music got upbeat. It is at this point that Coolidge decided to go along with it and began dancing on stage to laughter and applause from the audience, after which she accepted her award.

Coolidge will reprise her now-Emmy-winning role in “The White Lotus” Season 2, so maybe she’ll get a chance to finish her speech next year.
