John Dutton prepares for war

In the first trailer for “Yellowstone” Season 5, John Dutton (Kevin Costner) is now officially a triple threat: cowboy, gangster And Montana Governor. But as the new season’s tagline says, “Power comes at a price,” and that price appears to be a literal or metaphorical war with the Dutton family’s many, many enemies.

The series returns to the Paramount Network on November 13. Watch the trailer now at the top of the page.

Right off the bat, the trailer reminds us that “Yellowstone” plays on nonstop danger with John swearing. When he gets to the part where he says “enemies, both foreign and domestic,” the camera makes a point of lingering on three of them: his estranged son Jamie (Wes Bentley); His rival and occasional ally, Broken Rock Tribal Chairman Thomas Rainwater (Gill Birmingham); and Carolyn Warner (Jackie Weaver), CEO of Market Equities.

Next, he lays out his entire staff and makes his daughter Beth (Kelly Reilly) his new chief of staff, which may not be as wise a decision as he thinks. Beth is smart and ruthless, but that’s why Warner is Dutton’s enemy – remember that Warner fired Beth for abusing company resources to pursue personal vendetta and tried to destroy Dutton with lawsuits. promised? Well, we see that she is ordering someone to “ruin them”. start with him. ” Oh. Luckily Beth is still married to Rip (Cole Hauser), the cutest violence distributor in the West.

Meanwhile, when we last saw Jamie, Dutton not only discovered that Jamie’s biological father, Garrett, had arranged the assassination attempt that ended Season 3, but that Jamie knew about it. Beth then forces Jamie to kill Garrett and throw the corpse at the train station, allowing him to have a permanent advantage over him. In the trailer, Jamie looks timid, but considering how annoyed he is, maybe not everything is as it seems.

And of course, it wouldn’t be “Yellowstone” without involving the rocky relationship between Kayce (Luke Grimes) and his wife, Broken Rock Tribe member Monica (Kelsey Asbill) — who may now be supernaturally doomed as well. “When I said we give the land everything,” she tells him, “I meant everything.”
