Joke of lamb who ‘might as well be skydiving’ while holding a microphone with hooves

The colorful, chaotic character masks may be the great equalizer on “The Masked Singer,” but that doesn’t mean they’re super easy to perform. In fact, for Season 8 runner-up The Lambs, getting their hands on their microphones to hoofs was about as easy as jumping out of an airplane.

On Wednesday night’s finale, the Lambs came in second behind Harp, who was revealed to be “Glee” star Amber Riley. So, who were the lambs? Well, as judge Robin Thicke guessed, the trio was none other than Wilson Phillips, the group best known for their song “Hold On.” But, according to the women, getting hold of their devices in their costumes was no easy task.

“Honestly, we might as well have gone skydiving,” Carnie Wilson told TheWrap with a laugh. Her sister, Wendy Wilson, readily agreed, adding that the hooves weren’t even the most difficult aspect to maneuver.

“First, you spread your fingers with the hook. And you couldn’t put your mic to your mouth, because you had this big mask in front of you.’ “So it was like 10 inches from your mouth.”

“It was also like where the mouth was on the lamb, where our eyes or our forehead was,” Caney recalled. “So, it was completely off in terms of placements. It was really a journey. Very, very challenging.

The older Wilson also admitted that, although he and his bandmates were always hoping and fighting to go as far as they could in the show, the challenges of the costumes actually made him “the single most challenging thing” form that he had ever encountered. , physically.

“After the first performance, I didn’t know if I really had the physical strength to do it. Because my calves were absolutely killing me,” she said. “And I just didn’t know if I had the strength. And we, like, had to give each other a pep talk and say, you know, we’ve got to hang in there, we can do this.

Clearly, that pep talk paid off, as the Lambs came in second place, the first time any group made it to “The Masked Singer” finale. Once the women had overcome the physical limits of competition, the hard part was just keeping the secret. According to Wendy, she was bombarded with people asking everywhere, from nail salons to Halloween parties.

“You know what I think is really sweet is how people get so attached to the characters,” she said. “They are very loyal to the people they love! So I find that adorable.

So, with “The Masked Singer” and passed, what’s next for Wilson Phillips? Hopefully some new music. They’d love to cover the artists they perform on the show – and currently have their own cover of a Harry Styles song – but they’re open to making their own music in the studio.

“I mean, we’ve covered a lot at this point,” Wendy said. “So I think we’re looking more at what we can do, you know, creatively, and some original stuff, in the end!”
