Josh Brolin questions the future of Sicario 3

Lovers of the Sicario franchise have been eagerly awaiting news of the third installment, but their hopes may have been dashed with actor Josh Brolin‘s recent update on the progress of the project. In an interview with VarietyBrolin shared his concerns about the delay of sicario 3. As a recurring cast member who played CIA officer Matt Graver in the previous two films, Brolin explained why the film has yet to be made despite high demand from fans. According to the actor, the process of bringing the third film to life had been challenging, and while the first two films were financial successes, getting the third film off the ground is still difficult.

“Sicario 3, we tried to get that right and get it going, but why didn’t it happen? How long can you wait? A hard movie to get made, even though the two were making money, and people are asking about it all the time.”

Sicario, released in 2015, was a critical and commercial success. Directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Emily Blunt as FBI agent Kate Macer, the film told the story of an obscure government task force involved in the ongoing war on drugs and the Mexican cartel. The sequel, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, premiered in 2018 and continued the story of Matt Graver and Alejandro Gillick. The film, directed by Stefano Sollima, received mixed reviews from critics but still garnered interest from fans of the franchise. With news of a third movie in the works, titled Sicario: Capos, fans were excited to see where the story would go. While Brolin’s update is disappointing, the film industry is unpredictable and there’s always a chance the project will be revived in the future.

Josh Brolin is a Hollywood A-lister known for his impressive range and ability to inhabit complex characters on screen. While he’s played a variety of roles over the years, his portrayal of Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is arguably one of his most memorable. In a recent interview with Variety, Brolin reflected on his experience playing the Mad Titan, revealing that he was initially hesitant to take the role due to his distaste for superhero movies. Ultimately, however, he was drawn to the in-depth information contained in the “bible” character, and the opportunity to work with the talented Russo brothers.

“First of all, we had no idea it was going to be that big or that meaty of a part – it was more of a cameo type thing. I was doing ‘Everest’ in London and they brought Thanos’ huge bible and what he meant in the Marvel universe and its trajectory and its relationship with Lady Death and all this stuff. And I thought it was really interesting, but I had turned down some really big movies of that kind of movie, not Marvel, but other people. And I had just no real interest in doing it I just felt like that went down a path that I just wasn’t really interested in. So this came and I was like, this is interesting and it was the bible that did it I read tons of information and I thought, this is really cool and I love how deep this has gone.” Brolin revealed.

Brolin worked closely with the Russo brothers, who directed Avengers: Infinite War And Avengers: endgame, to develop his portrayal of Thanos. They conducted tests to help Brolin relax and be more natural in his performance, allowing him to fully embody the character and make him believable on screen. Despite not usually being into superhero movies, Brolin loved playing Thanos. He relished the challenge of developing such a complex character and relished the chance to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
