It seems that the dark period in Ranbir Kapoor’s career is over. To be shamshera, the first RK release in four years, was woefully bombed. Now all hope is pinned on Karan Johar’s Ayan Mukerji directed movie Brahmastra which opens on Sept. Preview reports of the film are very encouraging. Those of the movie brotherhood who have seen Brahmastra can’t stop being excited about it.

Karan Johar wants to hold Brahmastra trials; Star Studios vetoes the proposal and rejects the idea

A source close to Karan Johar revealed: “Karan has shown the film to those for whom the opinion is important to him. Among those who have seen the film from his brotherhood are Shah Rukh Khan, SS Rajamouli, NTR Junior and Aditya Chopra. They can’t stop raving about the movie. Of course Karan realizes that his friends from the entertainment industry are praising him Brahmastra does not amount to mass acceptance of the work. Asli pareeksha toh tabb hogi jab junta dekhegi Brahmastra.”

Apparently Karan Johar would like to show the film to test audiences. But its co-producers and distributors Star Studios, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures are strictly against the idea.

“After he burned his fingers with… liger, Karan wants to show the film to audiences outside the industry. He realized that the movie brotherhood will not tell the truth about the quality of movies. Karan Johar has great confidence in Brahmastra. He wants to hold a pre-release ‘trial’ show for a hand-picked audience that can provide useful suggestions for improving the film, even at this late stage, when the film comes out in two weeks,” said a source close to Karan.

If only his co-producers would let him.
