James Corden had Keegan-Michael Key on Monday’s episode of “The Late Late Show” and performed “Key & Peele” and “Schmigadoon!” Star in another of her funny recurring jokes, “Improvised TED Talks.” The theme was “The Life-Changing Power of Vacuuming in the Nude,” and since we can’t top it here, we’ll fix that.
So for those who don’t know, it’s a lie Corden gave one of his celebrity guests a completely unread, unresearched TED talk on a topic they didn’t already know. Comedy comes across very commonly, especially on Monday’s episode, because Key is, you know, a well-regarded comedy person.
“You know, ladies and gentlemen, I find that, when I’m at home and I’m, uh, doing housework, that my wife becomes very happy,” said Kee, kicking off his awkward lecture. Told. “I have also found that when there is no clothes in my house, my wife is also happy. So I’ve decided to mix those two things together and use them as a force multiplier. Look, this one plus one is not equal to 2. It equals more than one plus one 2.
Subsequently, for some reason a picture of Tom Hanks appeared in the slide presentation, leading Key to joke that when he discovers something scientific, he likes to discuss it with Tom Hanks. The jokes came from there pretty fast and to be honest, we’d ruin it by trying to describe it.
Subsequently, Corden stepped in to put his band leader, Reggie Watts, to bat. Their subject: “Ham: You want some?”
“Ham: You want some,” Watts began. “Why do you all need something? You’re all asking, you’re doing all, and you’re saying, ‘I want something.’ But why?”
“Check it in,” Watts said before snapping his fingers. At this point an image of Santa Claus appeared. “Because if you can’t get down with someone… in any case, I’m talking about dressing up as a witch, dressed up as a robot, as someone else. dressed up as Santa Claus, then you all don’t know what ham is about. Mmm.”
Sidebar: Watts’ improvisation reminds us of the brash preacher played by Arsenio Hall in “Coming to America,” which we mean as a compliment.
Things when with a lot more funny jokes out there. Again, we won’t waste writing all those jokes, but now you can watch the full monologue above.
