Knight on performing in Full Armor

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Season 8 of “The Masked Singer”)

As promised, Season 8 of “The Masked Singer” has arrived in the fall TV landscape with the unmasking of a famous first. After a thrilling performance of Fred Astaire’s “Putin” at the Ritz, William Shatner was revealed as Knight.

The “Star Trek” actor said he chose the song for its “syncopated and jazzy” feel, which he felt would bring some fun energy to the audience.

“And you could speak the words instead of singing or holding a note. So this seemed like a good song to do,” he laughed during a recent conversation with TheWrap.

Naturally, the audience and the judges were blown away by the surprise that Shatner was actually standing in front of them on stage—even though Jenny McCarthy eventually speculated that it might be under armor.

McCarthy seemed impressed and surprised to hit the nail on the head with that conjecture and, of course, Shatner said he was also surprised to hear the judge take his name.

“I was shocked, because I had lost my identity,” Shatner joked, adding that her dress proved to be quite disorienting. “I didn’t even know who I was until that time.”

That being said, Shatner acknowledged that the experience was viewed with love, especially since he had the opportunity to talk about several other influential projects, including several television shows and documentaries, a watch he designed with NASA. did, and even their trek into space.

Once he’s exposed, Shatner lurks in the audience for the next disclosure, only to find out that the hedgehog’s identity was none other than “Monty Python” star Eric Idle.

“The people who are responsible for the security of the show should be hired by the government. “It was unbelievable,” Shatner said of the next unveiling, explaining that he had no idea who could possibly be behind any of the other costumes.

He said amusingly: “I know there was a sniper ready to shoot me if I said a word.”

“The Masked Singer” airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
