Vijay Deverakonda’s liger saw another dip in collections at the South Indian market on Saturday. After a start of Rs. 17 crores, the film came down to Rs. 4.25 crores on Friday and now on Saturday there was another 30 percent crash as estimates indicate the third day at Rs. $3.25 million. This gives the gross total of liger in the South Indian belts stands at Rs. 24.50 crowns. The South Indian rights namely Telugu states, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka were sold for the amount of Rs. 70 crores, of which Rs. 60 crores is for the Telugu states.

The three-day share of liger is in the range of Rs. 13 crores, which is Rs. 57 crores of recovery is still pending. Liger will close its share of the southern belt with a share of Rs. 17 crores, which represents a consolidated loss to South Indian belt of Rs. 53 million dollars. The film has more or less ended at the box office and it’s now just a matter of waiting for Monday before the collections reach almost a pittance.

The conversation across the board is negative, although Hindi markets somehow manage to stay afloat over the weekend, but a crash there on Monday is also inevitable. If we look at the total losses on ligerConsidering the international markets, the distributors will lose at least Rs 65 crore as the worldwide rights (including Hindi belts) are valued at Rs. 90 million dollars.

liger will end up being the biggest disaster of Vijay Deverakonda’s career as well as the biggest Telugu disaster of 2022 after the Chiranjeevi starrer Acharya. Whether there will be more surprises this year remains to be seen.
