List of nominees for the 2023 Golden Globes released

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the official list of nominations for the 2023 Golden Globes it came out. The awards show will air early next year on January 10, with numerous movies and television shows on the schedule.


Among the many strong contenders for this upcoming awards season, The Banshees of Inisherin (2022) leads the pack with no less than eight nominations, including Best Picture and Writing and Direction for Martin McDonagh. The film, a dark comedy starring Colin Farrell (The Batman) and Brendan Gleeson (The edge of tomorrow), revolves around two old friends living on the Irish island of Inisherin who find their friendship abruptly jeopardized, leading to a verbal and even violent battle that tests their will to forgive each other.

The film with the second most Globe nominations is Everything Everywhere Everything at once (2022), an absurdist comedy drama starring Michelle Yeoh and written and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. The film’s trailer debuted early last year to largely baffled amusement, but upon release it received a healthy dose of both critics and audiences, and was billed as a rarely seen “swirl of genre anarchy” that worked extremely well. The movie itself revolves around a Chinese-American immigrant named Evelyn Wang who, while her family business is being monitored by the IRS, suddenly finds herself literally in a crisis where she must find herself in countless parallel universes in order to save the “multiverse.” from a powerful enemy.

Inisherin and Everything Everywhere lead the pack this year

Two other films with significant number of Globe nominations include Babylon (2022), a period film set in the 1920s starring Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie, and The Fables (2022), Spielberg’s latest project starring Michelle Williams and Paul Dano, a fictional tribute to the beginning of his career as a filmmaker. Both films have five nominations on the roll.
