Although the series was originally announced in 2020, the six-episode series was given a logo and a place in Marvel Studios’ upcoming release schedule at Disney’s D23 Expo.

Don Cheadle has played the character of Rhodey since he took over the role in Iron Man 2and appeared in numerous films, also showing up for a brief cameo in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, a role that earned Cheadle an Emmy nomination. His next appearance will be early next year in the Samuel L. Jackson-led Secret Invasion, and his role in that series is expected to armor wars. Reports don’t show the plan for that, or the plot of the story itself changed, and a movie format is apparently just better.

Don Cheadle previously said Armor Wars will be true to the source material

During Disney’s D23 Expo, Kevin Feige finally began to reveal some details about: armor wars, saying the story will show one of Tony Stark’s worst fears come true with his potentially deadly technology falling into the wrong hands. Now that Stark no longer has to take care of his own creations, James “Rhodey” Rhodes must take on the task of protecting the Iron Man legacy. During his speech earlier this month, Cheadle noted:

“If you know anything about the lore, and you’ve read the comics, you understand that it’s a series built around Tony’s Stark Tech getting out and Rhodey taking it upon himself to get this technology back from the wrong one.” hands, the bad actors whose hands it’s in. Like Marvel does, it’s also a chance to take the mythology and turn it upside down a bit and come up with different ways to tell the story, so it does that and has done that in spades.”

However, the armor wars story is told, one thing is certain that we will finally learn more about Rhodey than in any of the Marvel franchise’s movies. While this has been the primary goal of many Disney+ series, it seems that Rhodey’s story and the continuation of the Iron Man legacy, is one that Marvel Studios says is worth telling on the big screen.
