“Violent Nights”‘s third position makes it the highest ranked peacetime film in 2023 so far. It was also the first week of 2023 to feature two Mayur films in the top 10.
second entry? “Sick,” the latest slasher flick from “Scream” writer Kevin Williamson, grabbed the seventh spot on Ranker. One interesting aspect of “Sick” viewership worth noting: unlike most horror films, the film’s streaming audience is more female than male (53% female), according to viewership data from Whip Media.

The film – which stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Hong Chow, Judith Light and Ralph Fiennes as celeb chef Julian Slowik – is also particularly popular with younger streamers. Nearly 40% of the film’s streamers are 29 years old or younger.
And most fans seem to be enjoying the film, with “The Menu” getting a 4.1 out of 5 star rating from its viewers. The only other HBO Max movie to make the top 10 for the week was “Black Adam,” which has become a staple of Whip Media’s ranker since its streaming debut in mid-December.
Netflix enjoyed second place for its third straight week thanks to “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.” (The sequel to 2019’s “Knives Out” was the most-streamed movie in the US in the final week of 2022.)
Summer smashes “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Elvis” also continued their strong streaming runs, the latter potentially fueling a slight increase in interest following the death of Lisa Marie Presley last week.
And speaking of summer smashes, it’ll be worth watching next week to see if “Minions: The Rise of Gru” breaks into the top 10 after making the hit sequel available on Netflix earlier this week.
