“I finally have a younger version. Little Jan turned into teenage Jan in last week’s episode of A Friend of the Family. I’m so proud of Hendrix, this wasn’t easy material and she did a great job. You can stream now the first 6 episodes on Peacock now (I come in on the 5th episode).”

Yancey was recently featured on Stranger Things 4 as Thirteen, one of Eleven’s other subjects (Millie Bobby Brown, Martie Blair) in the Hawkins National Lab. Who, unfortunately, was one of those who lost their lives in a massacre. She was also in a separate Netflix Original series, unbelievable, playing the daughter of Merrit Weaver’s character, Det. The rest of the show

Nick Antosca serves as writer, executive producer and showrunner on A friend of the family. Other cast members on the show include Jake Lacey as Robert Berchtold, the man who Jan. Colin Hanks kidnapped, and Anna Paquin as Bob and Mary Ann Broberg, Jan’s parents. The real Jan and Mary An Broberg are the producers of the show. According to Antosca in an interview, the collaboration between Jan Broberg and her family was the heart of the project.

“It was essential. The first thing we did when we started thinking about telling this story as a series was to get in touch with Jan, and we had that first conversation that was three years ago. That conversation has been going on to the continued today so we couldn’t and wouldn’t have made the show without Jan’s blessing and cooperation. She has been incredibly generous. There is so much information and emotional truth we have put into the show […] but Jan was really essential to tell the human story, a story you can immerse yourself in, empathize with and move in,” says Antosca.

“I felt cared for. It was like, ‘Oh, you’re going to care about my story. You’re literally going to listen to my relatives, and you know how they are not to blame,'” said Jan Broberg.

In a separate interview, Lacy said one of the reasons he signed up to play a pedophile was because they wouldn’t show the abuse. There would be a “logistical solution” for that part of the show. Jan Broberg’s involvement with the show also influenced his decision to take on the role. Plus, he was intrigued by the challenge of playing someone so different from the “nice guys” he usually plays.

“Then, regardless of the subject – however horrific his behavior is and the effect on his family, on other families – as a character, Robert Berchtold is layered and a real challenge to take on how to create this person, and tell it story. I always want to face challenges and they come in different ways. Something that may have been uncomfortable or unfamiliar and goes like, “I’m going to have to dive in and trust the people around me, and rely on my years in this company to do something.” rather than thinking, ‘Let’s just go back to what I can do in my sleep.'”

Right now the first six episodes of A friend of the family Stream on Peacock. Again, Yancey is in the top four before Grace takes over the role in five. There are still three episodes left in the season, which airs every Thursday. If you want, you can also watch the documentary Kidnapped in plain sightthat deals with the same subject.
