Meyers thinks Lauren Boebert’s staff made fun of her for appearing dumb during audition

Seth Meyers is pretty sure Lauren Boebert’s staffer is actively sabotaging Congress, after a hearing Wednesday in which he intensely — and wrongly — grilled a D.C. legislator about crafting a bill called He personally helped with the reversal.

In the grand scheme of things, Boebert was referring to the revised criminal code, which was voted on, and the overwhelming majority rejected by the house — which at the time was a part of Boebert, meaning he himself voted on it. But, what Boebert didn’t know was that, as one of his first questions was, “These changes are now the law here in DC, right?”

At this, both the witness and the speaker corrected Boebert by reminding him that she was among the group that voted against it.

“I can’t even begin to wrap my head around how dumb this is,” joked Meyers. “She had to be corrected by a witness about a bill she voted on. There’s a good chance she doesn’t even know she’s in Washington DC right now. She probably needs one of those mall maps.” Which tells you where you are, excluding the whole country.

But for the purposes of this hearing, Boebert seemed focused on a specific portion of the amended criminal code that would have changed public urination from a criminal offense to a civil offense. And, despite being told that the amended criminal code that could have done this had been overturned, she kept asking repeatedly whether public urination had been decriminalised.

After he was told a few more times that it was not, Boebert quietly bided his time.

“Here’s my theory; I think Lauren Boebert’s staff hates her and gives her bad information as a joke,” Meyers joked.

The “Late Night” host then acted out how that particular exchange might have gone, including attempting to tell Boebert that the bill she was criticizing was someone named Ip Mapentz.
