The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has shown its immense budget throughout the series, with breathtaking shots of the New Zealand area where it was filmed. The series, which debuted on September 1 earlier this year, is undeniably grand in scope, leading to more than two years spent filming the first season alone.
Fans hope for a faster turnaround between seasons 1 and 2 of The rings of poweras several years of filming would slow the project down quite a bit with the required VFX and post production. During an interview with ColliderGaladriel actress Morfydd Clark discussed filming the first season and why the second might be a little different.
“But filming season one was so special because we were in New Zealand, there was a pandemic, no one could leave, we had no life other than the show. And as an artist, that was pretty incredible to do. To be a to be able to be a little bit… we were just totally obsessed and it will never be that way I just feel that way that’s why it’s so exciting that this last episode comes out, this was two years of work because of the context it was filmed in and it was actually all consuming in a wonderful way.”
Filming will be moving away from New Zealand in the upcoming second season, as The rings of power crew moves to the UK. This will be an important move for the franchise as both the Peter Jackson trilogies, Under the spell of the Ring and the hobbit, goods filmed in New Zealand. Hopefully the production and beauty of the second season will be on par with the first and the movies that preceded it.
Morfydd Clark has one secret to get her back in character
Although it’s been a while since Morfydd Clark was up The rings of power set, the actress tells Collider that there is one thing that always brings her back to Galadriel. It’s not the costumes, the set design, or reading her script. Instead, Clark says horseback riding has forged a special bond between herself and her character.
“I feel the most important thing for me is to understand her and get the feeling that she was riding, I had never ridden before and it feels magical. And so I’ve been really lucky to be able to ride again before season two starts And that’s a really great door to everything, to Middle Earth and its whole really, I think the horses.”
Although filming has already started in the UK, it could be a year or two before we see it The rings of power arriving on Prime Video. The series has a lot to deal with between the lengthy shoots, the sheer amount of VFX work, and the post-production processes. Of course, the crew wants to capitalize on the popularity of the first season as soon as possible, although we can see the show in 2024 at the earliest. For now, fans can enjoy the entire first season, streaming now on Prime Video.
