Yesterday Bollywood Hungama broke the heartbreaking story of Nitu Chandra, in which the actress describes her days struggling to find work. Nitu, who has worked with some renowned names in the industry in the past but is currently going through a rather disturbing phase in her career.
Nitu Chandra says her career resembles the failure story of a successful actress, adding: “Now my messages are also left unread”
The massive influx of actors, celebrities and stars has caused a stir as some of them lose jobs and livelihoods in the competitive race within the industry. Sharing her unheard-of story exclusively with Bollywood Hungama, Nitu discussed the challenges and struggles she currently faces on a personal and professional level as an actor. Nitu describes her career as the “failure story of a successful actress,” from talking about receiving offers to become a businessman’s salaried wife to running the pillar of posting looking for roles.
During her interview with Bollywood HungamaWhen asked how she sees her career in retrospect, Nitu surprises everyone by saying, “I feel like my story is the failure story of a successful actor”. Nitu explains why she thinks this is true and continues: “From where I come from, not many people have done what I have done. If you look closely, no one has been before me from Bihar, nor has anyone been after me, there is no one that people can look up to as such. Thanks to my sports background, I’ve always wanted to do something. So even at school and during my studies I did theater. Even after my father’s accident, I kept fighting for my dreams. I’ve always wanted to act, and once I become an actor, these are the things I want to do.”
“Thanks to fate I got such a big launch, something I never even dreamed of. Priyadarshan sir launched me in the movie Garam Masala opposite Akshay Kumar sir, and John Abraham. There were three girls in that movie, but today there is no sign of the other two girls, I am the only one of the three that is still there. Then I did Traffic light starring Madhur Bhandarkar, a National Award winning director who gave me a shot was a big thing. Then there was a movie with Dibakar Bannerjee, Oh good! Lucky Oye, a role that is still talked about today. There was also rann with Amitabh Bachchan… so even after making such big movies, I have no job today. Why? I don’t know. Even in the South I have made such great films, there was Singham 3 with Surya, who gave me that chance, I worked with Nagarjuna, with director Vikram P Kumar. I have worked with 13 National Award winning directors. There were movies with Madhavan, Vishal, JM Ravi, all of them. Now I have a Hollywood movie coming out under Sony Pictures in which I play one of the lead roles, but after all this, when I come back here and look for a job, all doors are closed.”
To wrap up the emotional story of her journey, Nitu added: “It’s like the industry as a whole is saying, ‘It doesn’t matter where you go and what you do, or movies you act in, there’s no here. work for you’. I’m tired of knocking on the door of filmmakers, producers, directors, casting directors. In fact, it has reached such a limit that my messages now also remain unread. So basically it’s a failure on all fronts. I am a failure because I cannot please these people; I don’t know how to please.”
