Olivia Wilde Talks ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ Rumors On Colberte

Olivia Wilde slammed “Spitgate” and other drama surrounding her film “Don’t Worry Darling” while guest-appearing on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Wednesday.

“Ours is another weird rumor ‘Spitgate’ you may have heard about,” director Olivia Wilde said during her appearance on the show, as seen above in a clip released on Wednesday evening before broadcast.

Colbert gave the director and current girlfriend of the “Watermelan Sugar” singer a hard time about denying the incident, saying “Did Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine? Why or why not? Supporting his answer.” Do” he joked after Wilde brought up the viral video.

“No, he didn’t, but I think it’s a perfect example — people will look for drama anywhere,” she said. “Harry didn’t actually spit on Chris.”

“Only time will tell,” Colbert joked, prompting Wilde to laugh and continuing to say that Styles didn’t spit on his costar. “we will see.”

For those who have forgotten, a video taken during the “Don’t Worry Darling” premiere at the Venice International Film Festival featured Styles as he sat next to co-star Chris Pine at the theater. Many who saw the clip were convinced that it featured Styles spitting on Pine, then reacted with what appears to be a surprise before Pine assembled himself.

Soon after, both the actors denied any such thing, expressing mutual respect for each other in separate statements. A few days later, Styles joked about the matter at a concert during his Madison Square Garden residency, where he was performing his latest album, “Harry’s House.”

During her tenth show in the series “Love on Tour: Madison Square Garden is Harry’s House,” the pop singer joked to her audience, “It’s wonderful, wonderful, wonderful to be back in New York. I’m too much to spit on Chris Pine. Arrived in Venice early, but fear not, we are back!”

The film has been surrounded by much drama since wrapping production, with rumors about an on-set brawl between star Florence Pugh and Wilde beginning a relationship with Styles during filming. Pugh’s reps have denied any beef, although other than the Venice premiere, Pugh has done almost no press or publicity for the film.
