New episodes are now in development for Our flag means death. The comedy series’ first season, created by David Jenkins, premiered on HBO Max in March. After spending a few months in the bubble, it was officially renewed in June and it has since been revealed that new episodes are scheduled for 2023 on HBO Max. This was clearly good news for fans who were concerned that the show might not be renewed and campaigned for it to happen.
take to TwitterJenkins has now announced that filming has officially started with Season 2. He posted an image of the set of a slate with the Season 2 logo for Our flag means death with the note that production has started. You can see the message below.
“It’s hard not to move on after what happened at the end,” Jenkins had previously told the LA Times before the show was renewed. “It’s a very difficult one. I hope they find out. I hope they want to do more. I know everyone on the show wants that. Just to keep going [social media] and see the trend for about two weeks feels unreal. It’s so satisfying, not even knowing if you’re refreshed, to see people like it so much.”
About what might come in a second season, series star Taika Waititi added: “I’m also waiting to find out because this is all in David’s brain. I’m just looking forward to it, if and hopefully when we move forward again. “Go, see that time they’re in the same room together again. All those little social nuances and details that we all have to deal with, I want to see that stuff. It’s like Grease’s opening after their summer fling.”
Our Flag Means Dead Season 2 is in production
As we can see now, everything went well and Season 2 is in the midst of shooting. The new season will, of course, follow the events of Season 1, set in 1717 during the Golden Age of Piracy. Rhys Darby plays Stede Bonnet, a man who leaves a soft life on the land to prove himself as a pirate. Taika Waititi also stars as Blackbeard with the show’s cast including Ewen Bremner, Joel Fry, Samson Kayo, Con O’Neill, Nathan Foad, Vico Ortiz, Kristian Nairn, Matthew Maher, Guz Khan, David Fane, Rory Kinnear, Nat Faxon and Samba Schutte.
