A new generation of the Dutton family is coming to Paramount+ in December. 1923the expected Yellowstone prequel starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, will premiere on Sunday, December 18 in the US and Canada, and on Monday, December 19 in the UK and Australia. Starring as Jacob and Cara Dutton, the series centers on the construction of the Yellowstone Ranch and follows the family through the end of Prohibition, the Great Depression and, as viewers have come to expect, their own family drama.
just yesterday, Deadline reported that a second season of 1923 has already been confirmed. Both seasons will contain eight episodes. The public first met members of the Dutton family in yellowstone. Directed by family patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner), the series follows the conflict-ridden lives of the Duttons, owners of the largest cattle ranch in Montana.
1923 is written by Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. He is also an executive producer alongside John Linson, Art Linson, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari and Ben Richardson. The 1923 cast also includes Brandon Sklenar, Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, James Badge Dale, Marley Shelton, Brian Geraghty, Sebastian Roché, Robert Patrick, Aminah Nieves, Julia Schlaepfer and Jerome Flynn.
1923 is the second Yellowstone precursor. Paramount+ was released last year 1883, a limited series starring Sam Elliot, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. A third spin-off, 6666, is currently in the works. It is set in the present day at Texas’ Four Six Ranches.

Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ portfolio seems to be expanding by the minute, and it all started with: Yellowstone. Although the drama has received mixed reviews, it has proved a success among audiences. Viewership for the neo-western drama continues to grow, with season four averaging 7 million live viewers, and the season four premiere attracted more than 14 million viewers.
Yellowstone also stars including Gil Birmingham, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley and Cole Hauser. The cast of the show was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in 2022. Season five, which follows the family as John Dutton comes to power, returns to Paramount+ on November 13.
Together with 1883, 1923 and 6666, Sheridan is also behind Mayor of Kingstown, a crime thriller starring Jeremy Renner and Dianne Wiest, and Tulsa Kingstarring Sylvester Stallone and premiering November 13: Yellowstone. He currently has three other series in development for the network: Lioness, Bass Reeves and husbandman.
