Paramount+ . With Kelsey Grammer Greenlight on the Frasier Sequel

TheWrap has learned that a “Frasier” sequel is officially on its way. Kelsey Grammer will be producing her signature sitcom character as well as the series on Paramount+, which will turn the multicam comedy green.

The creative plan for the series follows Frasier Crane’s next chapter in a different city. The former cast is not expected to be series regulars, but may eventually appear in guest roles. Additionally, no casting has been scheduled as the writers’ room has not yet opened.

The premise of the sequel follows a similar setup to the original, which itself was a spinoff of NBC’s hit “Cheers.” In “Frasier”, a psychiatrist (Grammer), moves from Boston back to his native Seattle (where “Cheers” was set). The ’90s series, which won more than three dozen Emmys, also starred Jane Leeves, David Hyde Pierce, Perry Gilpin, and John Mahoney, as well as featured the “Cheers” alum.

From CBS Studios, in association with Grammar’s Grammarnet NH Productions, Chris Harris and Joe Christali are writing and will also serve as executive producers with Tom Russo and Jordan McMahon as executive producers.
