India is one of those countries in the world that is one of the worst victims of terrorism spread in the name of religion. And everyone knows how religious fanaticism is used to set fire to the social fabric of the country.

There have been movies that show how terrorism profoundly affects our daily lives, but hardly any movies that boldly question the practice of brainwashing young people into becoming terrorists and killing innocent people in the name of religion. Director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan’s ’72 Hoorain’ exposes the foul play of tricking people into becoming terrorists and turning them into killing machines.

The best part of the film is that it does not preach to get its message across, but points fingers directly at the perpetrators of such terrorist syndicates and exposes their fanatical agenda.

Brilliant storytelling by Anil Pandey and hard-hitting direction by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan are the highlights of this unusual saga. Seeped deep into the dark realities of religious fanaticism and terrorism, the film’s story is so captivating that audiences will be addicted to the screens until the very end.

It is striking that the film does not point the finger at any particular community or accuse the entire community of the act of a few feared terrorists.

The film shows how the act of terrorism is closely linked to the religious sermons abused by feared terrorists to brainwash innocent people and turn them into killing machines.

The fact is that we have long ignored the profound impact of such acts of terror in the name of religion. This has made terrorists more brutal in their attacks and now they don’t think twice before killing people.

The film excels in all departments – from the story to the screenplay, dialogues, direction, cinematography and editing. Watching the film gives you the feeling that you are not watching a drama unfold on screen, but the horrific acts of terror unfold live and shake you from the inside out.

Pavan Malhotra and Aamir Bashir, who play the roles of terrorism standard bearers in the film, have done a commendable job and bring much conviction to their roles. No matter how much you praise these two brilliant actors, it won’t be enough. The other actors have also done justice to their roles in the film. The brilliant and striking casting is to be commended.

The public is hardwired to watch movies for entertainment. It is therefore all the more necessary for this audience to watch this film as it brilliantly exposes the link between religion and terrorism and brings the debate about religious fanaticism to the forefront.
