Peanuts Holiday Specials will not air on PBS this year, but will be streamed for free on Apple TV+

An annual tradition is crushed like a pumpkin. the beloved peanuts special holidays will not be televised this year. Instead, fans of Charlie Brown and the gang will either have to grab a DVD of their favorite specials, or tune in to Apple TV+ to follow their annual tradition. In any case, Apple has confirmed that even non-paying members can watch the specials.


When Apple bought the exclusive rights to the Peanuts characters in 2020, the big controversy of the year was: It’s the big pumpkin, Charlie Brown be removed from the broadcast. The classic has been broadcast consistently on TV since its 1966 premiere, originally on CBS and later on ABC. After the protest of Great Pumpkin, Apple was able to partner with PBS to broadcast the Thanksgiving and Christmas specials ad-free. It was an option that fans were happy about. PBS aired in 2021 Great Pumpkin, Thanksgivingand Christmas. This year, however, PBS announced on its official Twitter account that it did not have the rights to go for a third year.

However, Apple is still trying to make everyone happy. The streaming service still allows non-subscribers to watch the holiday specials for free on their service, although the window to watch them is still limited. Here are the dates.

  • It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown will be available from October 28 to October 31.
  • A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving will be available from November 23 to November 27.
  • A Charlie Brown Christmas will be available from December 23 to December 25.

For those who have an AppleTV+ subscription, the specials are available year-round, along with the various other classic Peanuts specials, both old and new. The streaming service will add two more classic specials to its library on December 2. I want a dog for Christmas and Charlie Brown’s Christmas Stories.
