One of the biggest names of the late ’90s and early ’00s, Lindsay Lohan, is continuing her career comeback with a new Netflix movie in the works. Irish wishdirected by Janeen Damian, is slated for release next year.
After a series of career setbacks and addiction problems, Lohan’s career has seen a steady revival. She returns to the big screen in her first starring role in over a decade with Netflix’s fall for christmas, Janeen Damian’s directorial debut, set for release in November 2022. Irish wish will be Lohan’s second consecutive project for Netflix with Janeen Damian and her husband, producer Michael Damian. These two projects will mark Lohan’s first leading roles since the critically derided 2013 the canyons. It was a long climb back for the icon that graced our screens decades ago with roles in The Parent Fall, Freaky Friday, and most famousmean girls.
If successful, Lohan’s Netflix deal could spell a career renaissance for the actor. Kirsten Hansen writes the screenplay and Brad Krevoy produces with Michael Damian. So, what else do we know about? Irish wish? What can we expect from the plot? Who is next to Lohan in the cast? When and where will the film be released? And what else can we expect from Lindsay Lohan’s Irish wish?
Irish wish: the plot
Since it is still in production, there are few specific plot details about it: Irish wish. Per Netflix we have an official logline that reads:
When the love of her life gets engaged to her best friend, Maddie puts her feelings aside to be a bridesmaid at their wedding in Ireland. Days before the couple get married, Maddie makes a spontaneous wish for true love, only to wake up as the bride-to-be. Now that her dream seems to be coming true, Maddie soon realizes that her real soul mate is someone else.”
The film is set in modern-day Ireland, and production will take place there in September and October 2022. While the romantic comedy angle of the love triangle is nothing new, it is particularly special to Lohan. on her podcast the lohdown, speaking with Jeff Conway from Forbesshe noted:
“The reason why I really click with Netflix and Christina Rogers and the people involved with” Fall for Christmas and the photo deal is because I felt like the romantic comedy movies are kind of gone and I really miss them. This was my strongest point when I started acting and when I got into my teens and became my own. I really want to bring that back as best I can. Self-discovery for women in movies, I think too, is a wonderful thing in a happy, fun, light-hearted way. I really miss that and they were on board with me and that’s the focus.”
From that quote, Lohan clearly wants this film to go back to its roots while keeping the romantic comedy genre alive. It sounds like Lohan and Netflix are creatively clicking, and if the two upcoming films are successful, we can expect more from this collaboration in the future.

Irish Wish: The Cast
Lindsay Lohan stars as Maddie, the jaded bridesmaid in search of true love. In addition to Lohan, the film has a string of big names lined up. Downton Abbey actor Ed Speleers joins Lohan, as does Welsh actor Alexander Vlahos. Vlahos is also known for Foreigneras well as older series such as Merlin and Versailles.
Ayesha Curry, author and wife of basketball player Stephen Curry, will be seen as one of her first major film roles. English actor Elizabeth Tan, best known for roles in Emily in Paris and Death in paradise, will have a role. Finally, iconic English actor Jane Seymour completes the cast.
While we know these people will be appearing in the film, no character names have been attached to them yet. We can expect to see character names revealed, as well as additional casting announcements, in the coming weeks and months.
Publication date
Lindsay Lohan’s Irish wish will be released by Netflix sometime in 2023. We don’t currently have an exact release date. With the shooting taking place in September and October 2022, Irish wish could reasonably be ready for a release date around late 2023, given the post-production lead time. as Lohan’s Fall for Christmas doing well in November, Netflix may choose to hit the market Irish wish around next year’s holiday season.
While Irish wish is not specifically a holiday movie, it is similar to Fall for Christmas in the field of rom-com. We’ll have to wait and see if Netflix chooses to take this release route.
