Blue’s Clues has been a beloved children’s show and groundbreaking Nickelodeon television series for 26 years. It debuted in 1996 and ran for six seasons before closing in 2006. The legacy didn’t end there though, as a series reboot titled Blue’s Clues & you! was produced in 2019 and brought to the children of the new generation. After all these years, Paramount+ released a trailer for Blue’s Big City Adventurethe franchise’s first feature film.


This Nickelodeon Animation feature features the hosts of the original franchise and some notable movie stars as guests. Fans of Blue’s Cluesyoung and old, eager to relive the adventures of their beloved dog Blue and his lovely friends, Josh, Steve and Joe. As the film retells the classic old stories with brand new songs and a storyline that fits the interests of kids and families, here’s what we know about the exciting adventure ahead.

Blue’s Big City Adventure: The Plot

Blue, the world’s most beloved puppy, is about to embark on a new adventure with her best friend, Josh, when they get the chance of a lifetime: to attend the audition for Rainbow Puppy’s Broadway musical. When Josh and Blue visit NYC for the first time, he forgets his handy dandy notebook, which he can use to write down the directions for everything, and they get lost in the city.

As a result, the duo seizes this opportunity to explore the city by making new friends and discovering the magic of dance and music.

Alternatively, discover Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper that Josh has forgotten his book and they embark on their own journey to help them by reuniting with their friends Steve and Joe. In this exciting reunion, all the animated and live-action friends will meet for the first time in the Big Apple.

Blue’s Big City Adventure: The Cast

The original cast of Blue’s Clues will appear in the upcoming musical film featuring singing and dancing. Josh (Joshua Dela Cruz) will reprise his role as the film’s protagonist, accompanying Blue (voiced by Paige Johnson). Steve (Steve Burns), a detective at Blue Prints Detective Agency, and his younger brother Joe (Donovan Patton) will later join the adventure to assist the main characters.

Aside from the main cast, the film will feature supporting characters Lola (Carolyn Fe), Josh’s grandmother, and Aly (Izzy Nagel), who appeared in A Blue’s Clues Festival of Lights. Camila (Gaitrie Persaud Dhunmoon) will appear at the same time as a librarian, as will some other characters such as Pretzel Lady, Drummer Band, Rainbow Puppy Owner, Juggling Auditioner and Dancers. Mailbox’s favorite animated characters, Mr. Salt, Mrs. Pepper, Paprika, Ginger and many others from the original series will make an appearance in the film to add to the fun.

The highlight of the film, however, is the special star appearances of BD Wong (Jurassic Park), Alex Winter (Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure), taboo (The Black Eyed Peas), Philipa Soo (In the woods), and Steven Pasquale (american crime story).

Produced by Nickelodeon Animation, the film is directed by Matt Stawski, known for his work on Effects and California Dreaming. Liz Maccie and Angela Santomero are responsible for the script and Derek McKane is responsible for the cinematography.

Blue’s Big City Adventurethe first feature film in the Blues franchise, will premiere on Paramount+ on November 18, 2022. As it is set in the same universe as Blue’s Clues, fans will feel right at home when they watch it. The best of the Blue’s Clues series is that each episode is recognizable and creative and helps children develop their minds by giving wisdom. Burns filmed a video last year for the show’s 25th anniversary, where he talked about leaving in the middle of the show, leaving fans emotionally drained. His exact words are as follows:

“Remember how when we were younger we used to run around and hang out with Blue and find clues, and talk to Mr. Salt, and freak out about the mail, and do all the fun stuff? And one day, I was like , ‘Oh hey, guess what? Big news…I’m leaving.'”

As a result, viewers are thrilled to see Steve Burns return in Blue’s Big City Adventure. His search for Josh and Blue in particular makes the film more exciting and gives the fans a sense of nostalgia. The franchise has spanned generations and people who have watched it since its inception, grew up and even had children. Furthermore, the film explores the intriguing scenario in which Josh forgets his handy dandy notebook and gets lost in New York. These situations occur in our daily lives and we can all deal with them in one way or another.

Since the film is still a few weeks away, you can listen to the first single, “On Our Way”, from Republic Record: Kids & Family, released on October 7. The franchise has announced that the full album of original songs will not be released until November 18.
