Following the several releases of character posters in recent days, the makers of Mani Ratnam’s upcoming landmark Ponniyin Selvan 1 have revealed the first look of Trisha Krishnan playing the role of a brave woman, Princess Kundavai.

The first look was unveiled on Thursday ahead of the teaser’s launch on Friday in Chennai. “In a world of men, a brave woman. I present Princess Kundavai,” the caption read.
Located in the 10th century, Ponniyin Selvan follows the power struggles of the factions within the Chola Empire, with enemies of the state as the catalyst. The story is set in the tumultuous period before Ponniyin Selvan (son of the River Kaveri), later known as Rajaraja Chola, became one of the greatest emperors in Indian history, ushering in a golden age. The film has a multi-star cast that includes Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Vkram, Trisha, R Parthiban, Sarath Kumar, Sobhita Dulipala, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi, Prabhu.
Lyca Productions presents PS-1† Jointly produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, directed by Mani Ratnam and music composed by AR Rahman. Ponniyin Selvan-1 is scheduled for a worldwide release on September 30, 2022, in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
