Rachel Zegler is about to become the face of Disney’s snow white for a whole new generation of kids, but it seems she only saw the original animated movie once when she was younger because she was scared. Although many children loved the fairy tale of the beautiful princess and her dwarf friends, because of that early memory, which was compounded by a visit to the DisneyWorld ride called The Scary Adventures of Snow Whitethe only other time Zegler has looked at the 1930s classic was while filming her role in the new movie.
After seeing her profile skyrocket over the past two years, Zegler follows hits like West Side Story and the coming Shazam! Anger of the Gods when she appears on screen as Disney’s original princess in the live-action adaptation of Walt Disney’s seminal 1937 feature film. The recent Disney trend for remaking some of their classic animations has been a mixed bag, with their theatrical films such as The lionking and aladdin doing big business financially, but still struggling to fully satisfy everyone with the original animated versions.
When it comes to snow white, the film was the subject of more controversy than most, with the inclusion of the seven dwarfs being criticized and Zegler being attacked on social media for being a Latina actress taking the lead. However, Zegler has taken on all of that, and while she may not be afraid of some online trolls, the actress told EW how the original snow white scared her. She said:
“I was afraid of the original cartoon. I think I saw it once, and then I never picked it up again. I’m so serious, I saw it once, then I went on the ride at DisneyWorld, which is called “Snow White’s Scary Adventures”, doesn’t sound like something a little kid would want, was terrified of it, never got Snow White more frequented. So I first watched it in probably 16, 17 years when I was making this movie.

Along with a number of other movie release dates, snow whiteThe premiere date was finally announced earlier this month, with the fairy tale set to hit theaters on March 22, 2024. studies have chosen to ensure their current scheduled releases have enough time to complete visual work and other post-production that takes time to get right.
Together with Zegler in the lead role, the film also plays a role Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot as the evil queen. Martin Klebba has also stated that he will play Grumpy in the film, but no other casting information about the dwarfs has been released yet. It was the confirmation of Grumpy’s casting that led to many questions about exactly how Disney will approach the Dwarves in this new retelling of the story. So far, there’s been no indication whether the dwarf will keep their unique look from the original cartoon, or have a more ordinary look.
