Choreographer Rajit Dev, known for songs like ‘coco’, ‘Bijlee Bijlee’ and ‘Baarse Ki Jaaye’, ‘Pachtaoge’among others, recently confessed that it was nothing short of a dream when he got the chance to choreograph one of the biggest superstars in the industry right now, Allu Arjun for the song, ‘MemuAagamu’. Rajit Dev talks about Allu Arjun’s choreography for Kpop band Trib-e and Armaan Malik collaboration MemuAagamu

About his experience with Allu Arjun, Rajit says: ‘I worked with Allu sir on a song before, but I was an assistant to Vaibhavi Merchant. This is the first time I choreographed him as an independent choreographer. Making Allu Arjun dance to my style is nothing less than a dream for me.” He went on to appreciate the superstar, adding, “Allu Arjun sir is such a humble person. Despite the massive stardom there is a beautiful heart that is warm and amazing.”

Another milestone that Rajit has now reached is working with a Kpop band for this song. Sharing his experience of working with Trib-e, he added: “I am very proud to say that I am the first Indian to choreograph a Kpop band. It’s a huge thing. The group of girls (TRIB-E) was so sweet and super professional. They have so much energy, I experienced that on set and made my work look great.”

He also said he faced his own challenges when he had to bring such big names together. “I was under a lot of pressure to come up with a good hookstep. As everyone knows, Allu Sir is a fantastic dancer. His swag is just magical. My thought was that I would make a few options that I think are good and show it to mister to pick one. He liked everything, but then we decided on a certain style and everyone loved it,” he said.

“I also wanted to record Indian classical hands for the Kpop group. I knew this would be a great collaboration bringing together Indian and Korean culture,” he concluded. The song is now out and the choreographer says he has received a lot of appreciation for his work.

For the uninitiated, the video clip of ‘MemuAagamu’ is directed by Collin D’Cunha and was shot in Bangkok in mid-July.
